Hey! I'm Syd, the twenty-something half of The Haggard Project. I grew up in Central Indiana and now I'm restoring my first home: a 1930s bungalow in Indianapolis. It's a lot of work, but it's incredibly rewarding!
I love learning how to DIY my way around the house on a budget. My main goal is to restore Lowery House to her former Art Deco glory while preventing any future issues that might destroy that vision.
I call myself a "young grandma" due to my unhealthy obsession with sewing, historical fashion, embroidery, knitting, collecting odd items, and genealogy research. My house is also 99% thrifted furniture and decore. One of my favorite quotes comes from Dandy Wellington: "Vintage style, not vintage values."
Lowery House is also home to her own shoe-stealing goblin named Emma. According to Embark, she's a German Shepard, Husky, Pit mix. I adopted her in 2018 from IndyHumane and she has been the best sassy shadow ever since.
Hi! I'm Lesa, the elder half of The Haggard Project. I am the mother of two adult kids and a cat named Arya. I was born and raised in Indiana, and currently live on 5 acres out in the countryside. As a kid I watched my parents renovate an 1800s farmhouse into my childhood home and now I carry that memory with me while I help my daughter, Syd, fix up her first home.
One of my favorite things to do is restore furniture. Whether it means taking a beat-up vintage radio and turning it into a bar or taking a set of old metal filing cabinets and turning them into a coffee table, I love to bring things back to life!
